Challenge: Operation Dependencies Led to Software Updating Bottlenecks
A leading U.S. insurance firm faced a major operational bottleneck in its financial division. The department was responsible for updating software frequently and unpredictably, but submitting tickets to the engineering team for each update took an average of six hours. This delay disrupted the department’s workflow and prevented them from meeting deadlines. We helped the client implement a trigger-based automation mechanism to initiate demand updates.
This eliminated the need to wait for engineers to be available and reduced the update process from six hours to just minutes. The new system also monitors the progress of updates and verifies the final version number, ensuring that the updates are successful. By seamlessly integrating technology with process improvement, organizations can overcome operational bottlenecks and achieve their goals more quickly and easily.
Automated Software Update Tools Solution
Fulcrum’s solution used Robotic Process Automation (RPA) to help resolve all infrastructure upgrades by automating the software update process, freeing the finance team to focus on other tasks. The robot can be triggered on-demand or scheduled to update software, with admin rights to launch and force/manually update. Once complete, the status and version are shared, and failures are retried and reported. This solution would save the finance team time and improve accuracy while making them more agile and responsive to change.
